Beach Walk-Relax-Be Happy

It’s starting to get light earlier and earlier here on the east coast.  I need to rummage around and find my trusty old pedometer, dust off my walking shoes and hit the beach for some relaxing, invigorating beach walks.

I never start my walks until the sun is just ready to pop up.  By that time, there are always other people out and about  on the beach.  Safety in numbers you know.

We all know the benefits of walking.  It reduces high blood pressure, increases levels of “good cholesterol”, strengthens our bones and heart, builds our immune system up.  The list goes on and on.  It’s one of the best ever tone up exercises and I surely need that every spring!

I try to give myself short destinations to begin with but always build up to make it to the fishing pier and back.  It’s fun to walk the pier and see if the early morning fishermen are catching anything.

Walking the beach will make me healthy but it also makes me happy.  There’s always someone to give you a big “Good Morning, beautiful day isn’t it?” greeting.  There’s always a wagging tail dog to pet but the best perk is the ever changing, endless ocean.  Watch the ocean long enough and all your troubles will disappear.
