Use What You Have Spring Clean Up

Yesterday was the first day of spring and today I started my spring cleaning. If I get it all done early, I won’t feel so guilty when I’m sitting on the beach with the summer’s best beach read! It was a beautiful day here in Myrtle Beach. Every time I went outside carrying my screens back and forth I was tempted to just stay out. My first chore was to wash windows. Of course, that also involves washing curtains and blinds. Here’s a little cleaning tip. If you run out of window cleaner in the middle of your big job, just switch to vinegar. Actually, it worked better than the window wash I had been using. My mother and her mother always used vinegar. Why did I ever think I had to use something more expensive? I also switched to newspaper to dry the windows. Newspaper will never leave streaks like paper towels and again it’s less expensvie. Great way to recyle newspaper too! While I washed the windows I let my blinds soak in the bathtub with a little dish detergent and a touch of bleach. The bleach gets the yellowed pull strings all nice and white again. Then I just laid them over the porch rail to dry in the sun. The screens were the easiet. Since it was so nice out it was no trouble to hose them down and let them dry in the sun too. “Lively Up Yourself” with Bob Marley playing in my ear put a little extra “spring” in me too! Hope your spring cleaning starts as well as mine has.
