Earth Hour 2009-Just a Reminder

 If you want to participate in Earth Hour 2009, be sure to turn your lights off from 8:30 to 9:30 this Saturday night, March 28. Over 4,000 cities in 82 countries will take part in this largest climate event ever.

The Golden Gate bridge, the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State building are just a few of the landmarks that will go dark.

Darkening our homes will be our symbolic call to governments around the world to take action and reach agreements on global warming.

Clinical Research Study-Stuttering

What do James Earl Jones, Carly Simon,Winston Churchill, John Updike and King George VI have in common? They all stuttered.

It is estimated over 300 million Americans of all ages stutter.

Stuttering is a communication problem that happens when the brain is unable to send messages properly. The cause of this failure is unknown but genetics most likely plays a role. About 60% of the people who stutter have other family members with the same problem.

The drug, pagoclone, was developed as a possible treatment for anxiety and panic disorder. It wasn’t effective for these conditions but during its trial, a few of the participants who stuttered reported significantly less stuttering. This is why the drug is being tested as a treatment for the speaking disorder.
