Ranch Owner Puts Up $10,000 Reward for Person Responsible for Poisoning Horses With Oleander
A Rancho Santa Fe, California ranch owner has put up a $10,000 reward for the person responsible for poisoning almost 30 horses at his ranch with oleander leaves.
Ranch owners, Debbie and Bill Tomin, reported someone broke in and fed the horses oleander mixed in with bits or carrot and apple. Three of the horses were seriously ill and had to be taken to a equine hospital for treatment. The other horses were treated at the ranch.
Oleander is highly toxic to horses just as it is to people.
The sickened American Saddlebred horses were discovered Thursday morning.
The ranch owns four of the show horses and the rest are boarded by clients. The show horses are worth about $2 million dollars.
Tomlin said he had no idea who would do such a thing but the ranch owner did put up a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
