A ground beef recall was initiated by a California firm due to possible Salmonella contamination announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) today.
Beef Packers Inc., of Fresno, is recalling more than 800,000 pounds of ground beef products that may be linked to an outbreak of salmonellosis.
The ground beef products involved in the recall were distributed to retail distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah. Consumers should check with their local retailer to determine whether they may have purchased any of the recalled products.
Salmonella infections can be life threatening especially in those with weak immune systems. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.
A complete list of the ground beef recall products can be found on the FSIS website.
