brushesAimee Blinkhorn of Manchester, England is a woman who suffers from alopecia areata and is not ashamed of her baldness.  In fact, she has recently started her own website Alopecia Beauty Tips to help other sufferers of the same unpredictable disease.

More than 5 million people in the United States have alopecia but little is known about the cause. It usually begins in childhood but can also strike adults. It is an autoimmune disease so the victims own body attacks their hair follicles and stops hair regrowth.

Aimee’s story was recently told in the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom. Her disease started as a small bald spot in the back of her head. Now at 26, Aimee has come to terms with the disease and hopes the acceptance of her baldness will inspire other sufferers.

Read the complete story of Aimee’s battle with alopecia areata in the Daily Mail .
