sneezeWhen my husband started complaining of chills and a stuffy head this evening, I immediately thought to myself, “Do I know the influenza virus H1N1 symptoms?”  Do you?

Just to be on the safe side, I checked out the Center for Disease Control and Prevention site.

The main symptoms include-
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Body aches
Headache
Chills and fatigue

Diarrhea and vomiting may also be experienced by some people.

To avoid spreading the virus, the CDC  is advising all of us to wash our hands often with soap and water. I’ve heard we should wash our hands as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday. My husband loves to sing so this should make him happy!

The CDC also advises us to-
Cover our nose and mouth with a tissue when we cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after it is used.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
If you are sick with flu-like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.

Hopefully, my husband is only having  some sinus trouble but I will continue to watch him for the influenza virus H1N1 symptoms. Better to be safe than sorry! You all stay well now!
