coffeeNescafe 3 in 1 Body Partner coffee now comes with collagen!  We can actually skip our face creams and go straight for our morning coffee!

That’s right ladies!  Nescafe, brand of instant coffee made by Nestle, is now selling a blend targeted at women and comes with the ever popular collagen.

This coffee product is included in a growing trend of “nutri-cosmetics”.  Basically, food and drink manufacturers promote their new products by highlighting the positive effect they can have on hair, eyes, skin or general appearance.

200 mg of collagen are contained in sachets that include the coffee and skimmed milk.  Collagen is a protein found naturally in body tissue. Cosmetic surgeons use it to remove fine lines and is found in many anti-wrinkle creams.

Okay, I can understand how fat from a cookie can make it to my hips but now explain to me how the collagen in the Nescafe 3 in 1 Body Partner coffee can make it to my wrinkles!

Influenza Virus H1N1 Symptoms

sneezeWhen my husband started complaining of chills and a stuffy head this evening, I immediately thought to myself, “Do I know the influenza virus H1N1 symptoms?”  Do you?

Just to be on the safe side, I checked out the Center for Disease Control and Prevention site.

The main symptoms include-
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Body aches
Headache
Chills and fatigue

Diarrhea and vomiting may also be experienced by some people.

To avoid spreading the virus, the CDC  is advising all of us to wash our hands often with soap and water. I’ve heard we should wash our hands as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday. My husband loves to sing so this should make him happy!

The CDC also advises us to-
Cover our nose and mouth with a tissue when we cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after it is used.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
If you are sick with flu-like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.

Hopefully, my husband is only having  some sinus trouble but I will continue to watch him for the influenza virus H1N1 symptoms. Better to be safe than sorry! You all stay well now!

Officials Suspect Fairgoers Gave Minnesota State Fair Pigs H1N1

pigOfficials suspect fairgoers gave Minnesota State Fair pigs H1N1!  Three pigs on exhibit at the fair tested positive for the virus.

If the preliminary result is confirmed, it would be the first time the virus has been found in U.S. animals.

The complete story at TwinCities.Com, reports the infected pigs were tested during research in the State Fair’s swine barn, between 8/26 and 9/1. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the University of Iowa were involved in the research.

Minnesota’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Gene Hugoson, said “There is absolutely no food safety risk from eating any kind of pork that has been contaminated with H1N1…Any pig that would exhibit any kind of  health indications would not be accepted for slaughter.”

There have been seven deaths and nearly 500 hospitalizations linked to H1N1 in Minnesota.

Although a group of 4-H students became ill with H1H1 during the fair, the USDA said, “information available at this time would suggest the children were not sickened by contact with the fair pigs.”

The pigs each had different owners and were tested on different days so even though officials suspect fairgoers gave Minnesota State Fair pigs H1N1, they cannot be sure.
