crossChinet brand, Marcia Cross and Feeding America are working together to relieve hunger.

According to the Feeding America website, one in  eight people in this country will spend the holidays wondering how they will find their next meal.

To fight hunger, Feeding America and Chinet brand have teamed up with Marcia Cross to launch the Grateful Platefuls program. Chinet will donate $100,000 to Feeding America which will provide 700,000 meals to Americans at risk of hunger.

“There is so much to be grateful for during the holidays and we need to recognize the opportunities we have to give to others,” said Cross. “I encourage people to visit the Grateful Platefuls page on Facebook and share their gratitude, because it only takes a few clicks of a mouse to make a real difference in the lives of people in need.”

Do your part. Visit  www.facebook.com/mychinet and share what you’re grateful for. Every grateful entry submitted on the Grateful Plateful Facebook page will activate a donation of seven meals to Feeding America.

Not only is it an easy way to help someone,  it is also the perfect opportunity to reflect on what you are truly grateful for.

Go to www.facebook.com/mychinet, pick a plate and join Chinet, Marcia Cross and Feeding America in working to relieve hunger!

The CDC estimates that more than eight million children have become ill from the swine flu with about 36,000 hospitalizations. 12 million adults ages 18 to 64 were hit with the swine flu with about 53,000 hospitalizations and 2,900 deaths.  2 million people age 65 and older were sickened and about 9,000 hospitalized and 440 deaths.

Although the numbers of the latest swine flu statistics are higher than previous case counts, there is still a vaccine shortage.

Are You Going to Play the Regifting Game this Christmas?

giftA new poll by Consumer Reports shows 36% of  U. S. adults say they will play the regifting game this year. This is in comparison to 31% last year and 24% in 2007.

For those of you who have no idea how to play the regifting game, I’ll explain. You simply pass on a gift you got from someone else. Ideally, you will rewrap  it and be extremely careful you don’t give it back to the person who originally gave it to you!

Some people call regifters thrifty and others call them cheap. It is a shame to hang on to something you’ll never use. Especially if you think Aunt Edna would really like to have it!

It is possible to give an inexpensive, thoughtful present without regifting. Homemade goodies are always great or tie a bright bow around some gorgeous houseplants you’ve grown.

Bring back memories by giving retro candy. It’s a gift they will never forget… fresh, old fashioned candy from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

It really is easy to be thrifty and thoughtful when choosing gifts without playing the regifting game this Christmas!
