The legendary Teddy Pendergrass is dead at age 59 of colon cancer. The popular R&B singer died Wednesday in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Teddy Pendergrass began his road to fame with the Philadelphia group Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes in 1970 when he was recruited as a drummer, then promoted to lead singer. That was the beginning of such 70s hits, as If You Don’t Know Me By Now, The Love I Lost and Bad Luck.
Pendergrass was left partially paralyzed after an auto accident in 1982 but went on to make other songs, and was nominated for a Grammy for Voodoo in 1993.
Teddy Pendergrass dead, at 59, will always be remembered as a prince of R&B music.
