Dead Man Found in Delta Flight 59 Airplane Wheel Well May Have Died of Hypothermia
A dead man found in Delta flight 59 airplane wheel well may have died of hypothermia.
After the plane landed in Tokyo from New York, a mechanic discovered the body lying inside the landing gear compartment of the Boeing 777-200 .
Police at Narita International Airport said the body was that of an apparent stowaway and was dressed only in a long sleeved, plaid shirt and jeans.
“All we know is that he must have sneaked in just before departure because it is impossible for him to enter the storage during flight,” said police official Zenjiro Watanabe.
During the trip, the temperature in that part of the plane falls to about minus 58 degrees.
Although, the dead man found in the Delta Flight 59 airplane wheel well may have died of hypothermia, the police are treating the case as an accident or possible crime.
