The results are in on a review of the health effects of different fats in the body and it seems people with a big behind get better disease protection!
The new research suggests a bigger rear is better than a spare tire around the middle as far as health goes.
According to the study, hip and thigh fat can help reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Scientists think lower body fat, like that around the hips and thighs, produces helpful hormones that protect against these diseases.
It seems this lower body fat also traps fatty acids. According to lead researcher Konstantinos Manolopoulos of the University of Oxford in England, “If fatty acids are not stored in fat but are stored in other organs like the liver or the arteries, this makes you prone to develop diabetes and heart disease.”
So next time you’re worrying about your weight distribution remember, people with a big behind get better disease protection!
