I can now testify that if you use Nature’s Miracle to get rid of skunk smell on dogs, you will not go wrong. I never in a million years dreamed I would ever have a skunk problem but lo and behold, this weekend my dog met up with a skunk!

There is just no way to describe this horrible experience. Apparently, skunks are more active when there is a full moon! Who knew? You can be sure my dog will not be out again on a full moon night.

Skunk odor is so powerful it will take your breath away! My first reaction was to call the vet but of course, my husband nixed that idea. Instead, we grabbed baking soda, peroxide and dish soap to bathe the dog in. The peroxide treatment temporarily lessened the smell but it also left bleach marks on some of my throw rugs!

Next we tried the tomato juice bath. By this time our dog was completely traumatized and could only stand there shivering while we poured the juice over him. Poor baby. Again, only a temporary solution.

When did we realize it was only temporary? When we got caught in the rain a few hours later. Apparently, the home remedies only mask the skunk smell. When the rain dampened his coat the odor from the skunk oil was released again!

Finally, a friend recommended Nature’s Miracle Skunk Odor Remover. It was so easy to use. We simply used a cloth to apply it around his mouth, eyes and ears. My husband used a spray bottle to saturate the rest of his body.  As the directions stated, we were very careful to let it dry totally.

Thankfully, we now have an odor free dog again! What a nightmare.

I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. There is now an extra bottle of Nature’s Miracle permanently in place in my laundry room cabinet for emergencies such as this.

Heaven forbid this should happen to your dog but if it does, be sure to use Nature’s Miracle to get rid of skunk smell on dogs, furniture and clothing.
