A Drunk Man Tried to Resuscitate Roadkill Opossum

A drunk man tried to resuscitate a roadkill opossum but according to state police,  the animal had been long dead.

Several people witnessed Donald J. Wolfe, 55 of Brookville, Pennsylvania, kneeling by the dead animal along Route 36 in Oliver Township. Some said he was gesturing as though conducting a seance and others said he attempted mouth to mouth resuscitation on the unfortunate possum.

Mr. Wolfe was arrested and will be charged with one charge of public drunkenness, police said.

Opossums are notorious for collapsing and “playing possum” by mimicking  a sick or dead animal. 

Perhaps Mr. Wolfe was just a drunk man who tried to resuscitate the roadkill opossum because he was drunk enough to think it was “playing possum”.
