A AK-47 was raffled off at a South Carolina Republican political rally in Greenville Saturday.
The candidate, Dean Allen, is aiming to be the next adjutant general. That’s the person who leads the state’s National Guard.
Around 500 people paid $25 for barbecue, a clip of bullets for target practice and the chance to win the semiautomatic. There was however, a stipulation that whoever won the AK-47 at the “machine- gun social” would have to undergo a background check.
What do you do with a AK-47 anyway? I know you don’t shoot squirrels with it. Why do we need them in our homes and on the streets?
I live in South Carolina but lately I have not been proud of the headlines my state is making. Mark Sanford, Joe Wilson , a AK-47 raffled at a political rally and the year’s not even over yet!
