Weighing In On My First Weight Watchers Weigh In

I promised I’d keep you posted so here I am weighing in on my first Weight Watchers weigh in!
My very first Weight Watchers® meeting was a success and absolutely painless. So far so good!
The receptionist who weighed me in never batted an eyelash when she recorded my weight. I was given 5% (9 pounds) as my first goal. That seems pretty doable although in the past I’ve had a very hard time losing any weight at all. Even when I think I’m “eating right” the pounds won’t come off.
My group met at 6 pm last night but I got there about 5 to register and get weighed. Good thing I was early because there were around 30 for the meeting and quite a few came just for the weigh in and then left.
I was not the only new member. A man whose daughter lost 60 pounds on WW also enrolled.
After weighing in I was assigned my goal and points. Although a 5% goal doesn’t seem like much to start, our leader explained it is easier to stay motivated when give a smaller goal rather than telling someone they have to lose hundreds of pounds.
All fruits are now 0 points under the new Weight Watchers PointsPlus program so I don’t have to limit myself on fruit. Even bananas are 0 points! One lady at the meeting said she hadn’t had a banana in 3 years because she was told they are high in sugar. Now that is what I call willpower!
Most vegetables are 0 points too except for the starchier ones such as potatoes and corn.
The whole PointsPlus program revolves around a solid, healthy combination of carbs, protein, fat and fiber. I’m so happy I don’t have to count calories.
The meeting leader and the 2 receptionists were very pleasant and helpful. All 3 have succeeded in losing weight through Weight Watchers. Our leader has lost over 60 pounds!
I was given 29 points a day to use on my new diet plus bonus points to use throughout the week. I was also given a pocket guide to help me track my points and I put that right to use tonight at a Christmas party! The party was fun and even though I had plenty to eat, I still came away with left over points.
The only problem I may have will be finding time for exercise during the holidays. Today, I didn’t get any in so I’ll have to try harder tomorrow for sure!
I am so happy I made the decision to join Weight Watchers and get a jump start on my weight loss goal for the New Year.
Weighing in on my first Weight Watchers weigh in already anxious for my second!

Courageous Elizabeth Edwards is dead at 61.
Ms. Edwards lost her 6 year battle with breast cancer today. She was the estranged wife of John Edwards, the former North Carolina senator and once hopeful presidential candidate.
It was announced on Monday that she had stopped all cancer treatment.
She recently posted a message on her Facebook page that read:
“You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces-my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope. These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined.”
Ms. Edwards endured her husband’s public infidelity with grace and dignity while at the same time maintaining her battle against cancer.
Her family said in a statement today, “Today we have lost the comfort of Elizabeth’s presence but she remains the heart of this family. We love her and will never know anyone more inspiring or full of life. On behalf of Elizabeth we want to express our gratitude to the thousands of kindred spirits who moved and inspired her along the way. Your support and prayers touched our entire family.”
Ms. Edwards wrote a best seller, “Saving Graces” about how trivial cancer seemed compared to the loss of her oldest son in 1996 from a car accident. He was 16.
Family, friends and her estranged husband were reportedly with her at her time of death. She is survived by 3 children.
A courageous Elizabeth Edwards is dead at 61 and will be greatly missed.
Joining Weight Watchers Before the Christmas Holiday-Wish Me Luck!

OK, I’m going to test my will power by joining Weight Watchers® before the Christmas holiday. Think I can stick with it?
Every year at physical time, my doctor’s scales
seem to creep up and up and every year he says, “Join Weight Watchers. It’s the only program that works.”
So as I sit here typing away in my too tight jeans and wishing I could live in my pajamas, I am making a new commitment to lose this unhealthy weight. I am going to give the new Weight Watchers Points Plus program every effort. 100% dedication.
Amidst gingerbread men and decadent fudge, my weight will fall! If I waited until after the holidays to begin my new diet, I would only have that much more to lose. Why wait?
I checked the WW site and found my closest meeting place is only 5 miles away! Another goal! With my trusty pedometer, I’ll strive toward the day I’ll be able to walk that 5 miles.
This is exciting! I know I need support and motivation to lose weight and after researching other plans I really feel Weight Watchers will work for me (and with me)!
Wednesday night will be my first meeting. Wish me luck! By joining Weight Watchers before the Christmas holiday, I should be well on my way by New Years!
