Newberry Academy, a private school, in South Carolina has closed after some students returned from Mexico with flu like symptoms.
Officials at Newberry Academy said in a statement that seniors were in Mexico earlier this month and some had flu like symptoms when they returned.
The swine flu outbreak in Mexico has claimed over 100 lives.
The spokesperson for the State Department of Health and Environmental Control, Jim Beasley, said tests results on the students could come back as early as this afternoon. However, the Newberry Academy website posted that since the results were not received today the school would be closed tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Newberry Academy is located in Newberry, S.C. adjacent to Interstate 26 which connects Charleston, S.C. with Asheville, N.C.
