Did you know you could save pennies by bringing your own reusable shopping bags to the grocery store? It’s true! Many stores will pay you to use your own bag.
I’ve shopped my local BILO for years and never knew this until another shopper gave me the scoop. Sure enough, when I checked with customer service, I was told they pay 3 cents for every bag . I’ve since found stores that are paying 5 cents.
Now, I bring my own reusable bags every time I shop. It’s something I should have been doing all along but knowing I can save pennies and help save the environment is just the extra incentive I needed.
I have also started to notice the wide variety of reusable shopping bags popping up all over the stores. Lots of people are now using their own personalized bags and I’ve spotted a lot of personal handheld shopping baskets too. I’m thinking the baskets would be great for quick trips to the store and the stylish bags for the bigger trips.
Be sure to check with your favorite stores to see what their policy is regarding bags and then stock up on them. Just think, you too could save pennies by bringing your own reusable shopping bag to the grocery store!
