Obama and U.S. House of Representatives Pay Respect to Michael Jackson

President Barack Obama’s senior advisor David Axelrod appeared on the NBC program “Meet the Press” Sunday and said the president has written to the family of Michael Jackson.
When asked why Obama had yet to speak publicly about Jackson’s sudden death last week, Axelrod said: “the president has written the family and has shared his feelings with the family.”
“He felt it was the appropriate way to go,” Axelrod said.
More respect was paid to Michael Jackson on Friday by the U.S. House of Representatives when the lawmakers stood in silence in honor of the “King of Pop.”
Rep. Diane Watson of California rose during a debate on the global warming bill and suggested the House “pay tribute to the culture that he has left behind, his legacy.”
Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Illinois said the singer changed the world and he wants to “thank God for letting all of us live in his generation and in his era.”
The pop star icon, Micahel Jackson, was 50 years old when he died Thursday in Los Angeles after suffering cardiac arrest.
Ex Wife Blogs Michael Jackson Feared His End Would be Like Elvis

Michael Jackson’s ex wife, Lisa Marie Presley, blogs on MySpace that Michael feared his end would be like Elvis.
“Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general,” Lisa, 41, writes. “He stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, “I am afraid that I am going to end up like [Elvis Presley], the way he did.” I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that.”
Presley writes and remembers her ex husband saying, “He was an amazing person and I am lucky to have gotten as close to him as I did and to have had the many experiences and years that we had together. I desperately hope that he can be relieved from his pain, pressure and turmoil now. He deserves to be free from all of that and I hope he is in a better place or will be.”
Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie were married in the Dominican Republic in May 1994. The marriage ended 20 months later.
Lisa writes of the marriage now saying, “I became very ill and emotionally/spiritually exhausted in my quest to save him from certain self-destructive behaviour and from the awful vampires and leeches he would always manage to magnetize around him. I was in over my head while trying.”
Michael Jackson, father of three , and perhaps the most famous pop star of modern times died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2:26 pm Pacific time. He was 50 years old. He died after cardiac arrest.
Jackson’s ex wife,Lisa Marie, is the daughter of rock legend Elvis Presley. Elvis died at the age of 42 of a heart attack after years of drug abuse.
Michael Jackson The Most Famous Pop Icon of All Times Mourned By the World
The world is in mourning for the most famous pop icon of all times, Michael Jackson.
Michael died today of cardiac arrest at the age of 50.
Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s brother, in a statement at the hospital where Michael was declared dead, said: “May Allah be with you always Michael. My brother the legendary king of pop Michael Jackson died on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2:26 pm (Pacific time). It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. The cause of his death is unknown until the results of the autopsy. His personal physician who was with him at the time attempted to resuscitate my brother as did the paramedics who transported him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre. Upon arrival at the hospital at approximately 1:14 pm a team of doctors including emergency physicians and cardiologists attempted to resuscitate him for a period of more than one hour.This was unsuccessful. Our family requests that the media please respect our privacy at this tough time.”
Newspapers around the world are reporting Michael’s death and citing him as one of the most influential musicians of our time.
Over 30,000 tweets have been made on Twitter about Jackson’s death and tributes are pouring into Facebook.
Elizabeth Taylor, a longtime friend, said she was “too devastated by the passing of her dear friend Michael Jackson to issue a statement”.
Quincy Jones, the famous music producer, collaborated with Jackson on three of his best-selling albums, Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad, said in a statement: ” I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at this young age, I just don’t have the words.”
He added: “He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I’ve lost my little brother today and part of my soul has gone with him.”
Lisa Marie Presley who was married to Jackson in the mid 1990’s said in a statement: “I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible. I am heartbroken for his children who I know were everything to him and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me.”
Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, was the Elvis of generation X and his loss will leave a worldwide void.
