61 year old Murrells Inlet nanny, Cheryl White, today pled guilty to two counts of abusing a 5 month old in March 2008.
White was charged with child abuse after the parents of the child showed a videotape from a nanny cam to investigators. The parents originally decided to set up the nanny cam after watching a Nancy Grace TV show about child abuse.
Horry County jurors listened to opening arguments yesterday and watched 2 hours of the six hour vhs tape but today they never heard any testimony before White pleaded guilty.
The judge, Circuit Court Judge Larry Hyman, sentenced White to 10 years on each count but suspended the sentence to five years probation.
The Murrells Inlet nanny was also ordered by Hyman to register with the South Carolina Department of Social Services abuse registry. The registry is a lifetime register for the state’s child abusers.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
Did you know if you don’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is allowed to pinch you? Ouch!
Taking no chances, I put on my bright, green blouse and went to lunch with my birthday club. We met at the Driftwood’s Seafood & Steak Restaurant in Murrells Inlet. This cozy little restaurant is a locals favorite located off the tourists beaten path but still easy to find. The food will make you say hmmmmmm and the portions are generous.
There were 10 of us at the table and our waitress gave us wonderful service. Now that is really saying something because you and I both know what 10 ladies can do to a waitress. Every request for an extra slice of lemon or a glass of tea with just 3 ice cubes was met with a smile.
I had the whole catfish lunch special (broiled) with baked potato, fried okra and of course, hushpuppies. The price you ask? $5.99! I love a bargain.
The Driftwood offers a early bird menu, senior menu, a childrens menu and buy 1-get-1 half price specials, Just recently they’ve added a recession menu. That menu begins at 4 pm and basically, they offer a dinner entree with a lunchtime price. How great is that?
I have to confess I did come home and whip up the traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner for my husband. It’s his all time favorite. Corned beef sandwiches tomorrow!
Incidentally, I wasn’t pinched once.
